New Life Christian Assembly

Location: Toronto, ON

Looking for:  Pastor

Employment Type:  Full-time

New Life Christian Assembly of Toronto (NLCAT), a small congregation comprised mainly of Caribbean heritage, is an assembly of believers who love God, His Church, and the world. We exist as a body of believers in Christ, to glorify God, to make disciples by seeking the lost and bringing them to Christ. We also exist to build believers up in Christ and to equip them to serve Christ.

Formed thirty-five years ago, NLCAT is an urban, commuting church of diverse ages (most congregants are older adults) and socio-economic status. One of our challenges is to find more effective ways of incorporating our young people into the ministry activities of the church and equipping them to become more Spirit-filled leaders. Our strength as a caring congregation is worthy of note. NLCAT is an affiliate of the Associated Gospel Churches and is in the northwest section of Toronto.

We are prayerfully seeking a pastor to provide a solid Bible-based preaching and teaching ministry to our congregation of believers who are at varying stages in their spiritual growth/development.

We are seeking a mature pastor (with five years minimum as lead pastor) who trusts God irrespective of circumstances and would model and teach scriptural truths; demonstrate the leadership required to successfully challenge and equip our leadership and develop new leaders; be able to reach out to a multicultural community, in new and meaningful ways, in response to the Great Commission.

As pastor, he would be expected to:

  • Be capable of developing the assembly to seek the lost, build believers, and equip workers.

  • Provide God-led leadership that inspires and equips NLCAT leaders/congregants to work alongside him.

  • Foster healthy and spiritual working relationships between members and leadership; facilitate Christ-like resolution of issues that may arise.

  • Be an empathetic planner and initiator who has a passion for reaching and relating to people and for preaching the Word.

  • Place strong emphasis on discipleship and youth ministry.

  • Be primarily responsible for local evangelism. He will actively teach and lead individuals how to witness for Christ to the surrounding communities.

  • Provide pastoral care by committing to visiting the sick and attending others with diverse needs.

  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills (preaching, teaching, facilitating).

  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills (mentoring, discipling).

Educational requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology or equivalent from an approved seminary or Christian college.

  • Current accreditation or potential accreditation through AGC. (Click here for AGC credentialing process)
